Fate Morgana

We are launching an imprint, Fate Morgana, to focus directly on publishing works/authors that are either untried or so singular, another means of presenting them are in order. "Chapbook" doesn't quite decipher what we intend. Truthfully there is no consensus as to what makes a Chapbook; So here's some definition interim until we coin a new descriptive. (Pocket Book already being "taken"!)

  • Short – No more then 40-50 pages (approximately 20,000 words if Prose)
  • Quality – Editorial and Print

We already have two titles in the works and will be bringing you more news about those soon. But we are looking for another three. Towards that end we've been scouring literary webspace until our eyes are rotating in counter circles to each other, and we have –quite frankly- started writing rants in our heads! So here's a chance for fortune to introduce us to each other!

We want Poetry, Monographs, Treatises and Prose. Fictive, Non-Fictive ...

Things we're looking for: A little bit of Truth & Beauty, even if couched between the lines of the most brutal of New Brutal. Military & Political Discourses are welcomed. Especially if they're coherent and know what makes for a Cadmean or Pyrrhic Potential in climates of yesterday and today.

Additionally, UNPUBLISHED!!!!  We mean the work(s) you submit, not you. That includes LuLu and similar. (If it has an ISBN, it's published.) Excerpted is ok. More then ok. It implies that you are already "publishable". But you must disclose where and when: Publication, E-Zine, etc.

What we DON'T want: Anything that comes with overly wrought typefaces. We have to be able to read it without being distracted. (Concrete Poets take note – try to limit yourself to Bold, Italic, Alignment and Blank Spaces: If we like it we'll work with you on typography)

INCLUDE a cover letter with your personal details and a short Bio, publishing history, and goals. Tell us why we should consider your work, what future you see for yourself as a writer (in other words, what are you doing to ensure that you're not a brilliant flash in a pan). Make it concise first, witty second and never make it a complete work of fiction! If you're just starting out, that's ok. But if you add to your Curriculum Vitae points of absolute fantasy ... Well, we wont be happy with you (Unless they're so brilliant we commission you to turn the Cover Letter into a published work.)

We'll start the Submission Period in Mid January with more complete guidelines and what to expect from us if we like it. We suggest that if you are on MySpace (if you haven't yet and why haven't you?) ADD US as a friend and SUBSRIBE to our MySpace Blog!

Remember to read good books!
